This is my first post to this forum - so, everyone, please be gentle with a newb …
I have a pair of Omega Super 3S speakers, currently sourced by a Nakamichi OMS-7 CD player played through a Dared 2A3C integrated amplifier (about 3.5 wpc).
I am planning on adding a 2nd audio system at home - Omega Super Alnico Monitors, sourced by a Marantz 6005 CD player - or maybe just a DVD or BluRay player.
I'm in need of amplification, and I've been considering a Camp Amp kit - not only because the reviews make it sound quite good for this purpose, but also the building sounds like a great project for me.
I do NOT have a pre-amp in mind - and, in fact, I'm wondering if a CD-sourced system requires one. If so, then is there a Pass-designed pre-amp that I can build or purchase? Better yet, is there a way to add a volume control to the Pass Camp Amp? If so - please give a part specification and a schematic on how to accomplish this.
Many thanks one and all …

There is the B1 pre if you look on the First Watt site.
There is the Mesmorise board in the store here.
The output from the 6005 is quite capable of driving an F5 Or F6 with just a passive pre, 10k stepped attenuator. (mine does.)
Amp cam Amp should be similar.
Stepped attenuator and suitable case are quite cheap from the well known auction site.

Sorry that my ignorance is showing so glaringly - hopefully it'll get better … I admit to need a lot more handholding than many of you likely require - and I am thankful in advance for you kindly understanding and assistance.
So - if I purchase and build a CampAmp kit, which has no volume control, am I correct in understanding that all I need to add to that is a B1 buffer preamp, which has a volume control? I see a description of such an item on the FirstWatt web site - but nowhere do I see it for sale.
I also see the Mezmerize B1 buffer preamp PCB that ColinA mentions available here Mezmerize B1 Buffer – diyAudio Store - and I see both a BOM and a schematic available (presumably the schematic matches the actual PCB - I hope). Presumably, it is necessary to populate the PCB with the various components in the BOM - and I assume it requires a separate chassis, etc.
One further issue: my current Dared 2A3C integrated amp has a soft-start circuit on it - and I'm wondering if such an item is needed here -- an, if so, what is required and where does it get installed (i.e., as part of the CampAmp or the B1 or wherever).
I'm sorry, folks, for needing more of your help - but I am NOT an engineer -- I was a carpenter for more than 25 years, but my love of music and my interest in building my own audio equipment is quite pressing.

All you need is B1
You can purchase original B1 from passdiy.com
Either B1 version will do the job.
Best to have separate chassis, but technically speaking it doesn't necessarily have to have a separate chassis. It won't fit in the ACA chassis though since B1 is a stereo pcb not mono pcb.
No soft start required.
