Is this volume control IC any good compared to a classic stepped attenuator / passive volume control?

That, or MUSES72323.

Pretty close to good switched attenuator SQ. Maybe best SQ with full +-20v rails, and with audio input signal kept to a pretty low level (rated distortion spec'ed at 1vrms input). Don't necessarily need to consider input level as much if using a mechanical switched attenuator.
