Volti Audio Alura

those are built by Greg Roberts and the woofer he use is CW1526C woofer Eminence makes on Bob Crites orders. it's pretty affordable for 275USD/pr. you can buy a pair directly from Bob Crites who is a nice guy to deal with: About Us | Critesspeakers.com

Hi Finnito, thanks so much for the info. Would love to build a replica of this speaker. looks like they are using the model "C" horn mounted vertically for the mid, wonder what driver!

Hi Finnito, thanks so much for the info. Would love to build a replica of this speaker. looks like they are using the model "C" horn mounted vertically for the mid, wonder what driver!

they use BMS 4592ND-MID (not coax) for midrange. the horn is a 2inch throat ~58cm width and ~23cm height and 36cm length Bruce Edgar horn. I don't know about tweeter but maybe a Selenium or B&C CD with an elliptical horn. for sure it's not better than Beyma CP-25 which is used on the Volti Audio higher model speaker as Vittora. I recommend it as it is fully horn loaded and more beautiful than the Alura. Alura bottom and top section are not coming along together in appearance. the Vittora is fully horn loaded. the midrange is BMS 4592ND-MID, tweeter is outstanding constant directivity Beyma CP-25, woofer is that same CW1526C. the midrange horn is also identical to what I explained.

Vittora:

@wilslow

a clarification:

the tweeter horn is not a Faital pro. Faital Pro horn is a matte but the horn in the picture is a glossy. I'm 99.999% sure it's an 18 Sound XD125😉 it's a constant directivity elliptic horn. using a uniform directivity horn is a smart thing to do. Greg was that smart to not compromise the directivity after he gave up using Beyma CP-25 which was a damn good at directivity:

I regret my previous post. the tweeter compression driver is not HF102 according to below image. it's not a bullet tweeter:

I have to add: there is an orange glare in picture above, don't mistake it with CD phase plug itself. take a look here this proves that the CD behind that horn is not a screw-on driver. there is no space between CD and horn 😉

I'm still sure the tweeter CD is a Faital Pro stuff as the only manufacturer that uses orange colored plastic phase plugs. it should be one of these:

HF104

or

faital-pro-hf105-size200.gif

HF105

and also HF108 which is a great candidate.

Can anyone comment more on the sound quality on these horns, I would like to know if singing voices are coloured? I have a tractrix horn with B&C De25 compressiondriver right now, and I have problems that "S" and "T" sounds on especially women voices gets sharp and harsh to listen to. With an EQ I have found that the problems in my horn/compressiondriver combo is around 7,5Khz
