Voltages same or? For Onkyo

I have come across a number of boards where dry joints have appeared on larger chip packages. Lead-free solder may have something to do with it as it is more brittle. I have brought back a number of boards with dry joint issues.

With patience you can reheat the pins, apply solder flux and some additional solder. I use a USB camera for magnification on a small tripod stand and a very fine tip solder bit. If acid flux is used, it must be washed off and the board allowed to dry. Inevitably the process will lead to shorted pins. Solder wick will save the day.

Unfortunately it's the DSP chips themselves that are problematic in these and are known to suffer from premature aging. (Possibly similar to "nVidia bumpgate".) TI TMS320 series DSP of rev. A and B silicon. Rev. D fixes this, last time I checked these were about $25 each if you can get ahold of one, just for the chip.
