I just got an email saying " for you from Russia ". There is a 4.37 Mb file attached in .rar format. It says RoomEQwizard V4.11 .

I don't plan to open it. Is this a virus ? Anyone else got this email. Senders name is Russian. But that doesn't mean a thing.
By the way RoomEQwizard is from a person called John on Hometheatershack I think.

Never throw a Turkish gentleman through a window after he kicked your dog, when his brother can return with a loaded pistol. :clown:

The Turk's luv to use their big *** swords - and take their time - when getting a little personal "payback". BTW - they are REALLY GOOD with those swords!:D

My Dad served with them during the Korean War and had photo's and stories about how they would sit around the campfire - get about half loaded up and then start doing folk dances with their swords and sparring with each other. Turkish Marines - I strongly suggest you give them your fullest respect. BTW - they are super guys and I do intend this in a positive manner.

The .rar indicates it is a compressed file. You'll have to de-compress it before you can run it. And then your virus-scanning program on your PC should catch it. From Russia I would doubt it is a virus. Most of the viruses are coming out of China.
If it turns out to be a virus, you can simply re-format your hard drive, reload your OS, and start out all over again. I do it all the time.

I do too and that is what you would have to do but there can still be huge problems. They could get your bank account numbers, social security number, passwords to everything you use a password for online, get everything you type on your keyboard and set up your computer to be part of a child pornography network that you would never know about and while a format would wipe that out the FBI could already have you marked for a raid. In addition even after you wiped it out they could do it again right away especially if they have you on their list of vulnerable computers to take over. There are about a thousand other things they could do too. It is the Russians who do all of that kind of stuff according to what I read on Wikileaks.

A format won't wipe out a boot sector virus either.
