Cheers again everybody, long time away. And got some time on my hands here.
Started a solid project several years ago. So Im searching some guidance on active filters/DSP. Before I continue.
Available toys :
Source :
Computer
Amps :
B&O ASP1000 4pcs
B&O ASP250 8pcs
McIntosh MC501 2pcs
McIntosh C50 pre
Speakers :
18Inch No-name Sub (Recommended from thrusted source)
12+12 mid bass Hi-Vi research D5.8
4+4 mids Hi-Vi research F5Ba/W5a
4+4 tweeters Hi-Vi research RT1.3
Active filter :
MAIN QUESTION.
Consider MiniDSP Flex HTx with 8 balanced outputs. Sub/Mid-bass/Mid/Tweeter.
Im aiming for any dsp or filter within max 2-3K. To serve the rest of the setup decently.
Most likely also need a proper audiocard for my laptop. But the DAC in my C50 is quite OK.
Part list is a result of an ongoing hobby for a while.
Im not used to active setups at all. So therefore.
Any advice would be appreciated. If possible with info provided.
And yes, I plan to use 6+6 midbass/4 mids/4 tweeters/1 sub in each speaker. In 4 separate cabinets each. 12 midbass on top of each other. 4 mids and 4 tweeters in listening height on each side. Building in progress ;-)
Cheers guys.

It's complicated. I have an active 4 way set up using a combination of MiniDSP SHD Studio, RME ADI-2 PRO FS BE, and very heavily modified Behringer Ultradrive Pro DCX-2496 all tied together by their AES/EBU interfaces. All configurable over USB because the user interfaces on these devices are primitive.
2 channels (via ADI-2) from SHD to subs.
2 channels from SHD to DCX
2 channels bass from DCX
2 channels mids from DCX
2 channels highs from DCX
The ADI-2 ADC provides access to all of my analog sources through an interface I designed.
I considered the beta program DEQX Pre-8, but even the beta pricing was breathtaking.
It took more than a year to figure out how to get it sound good, lots of room measurements, and some room treatment. Lots of fiddling around with the hardware.
My system is a whole lot less ambitious than yours
Subs are Monolith M10V2 x 2 (reasonably priced and quite decent in my modest sized space)
Bass via Onken 11 cu ft cabinets with Iconic 165-8G woofers driven by Icepower 125ASX-2
Mids are Yuichi A-290 clones with Tad TD4001 drivers driven by 300B hybrid amps
Highs are FaitalPro STH100 horns with HF10AK drivers driven by 300B hybrid amps
I would discourage you, but I see it is too late 😀
I recommend you look at some of the Xilica speaker management hardware, others here can guide you in the direction of something good in the used market.
Start by making sure the room is good to go! I wasted a lot of time chasing problems that were better dealt with at the room level.
The system sounds pretty good these days, and measures OK too. I guess it was worth it, not sure what else I would have been doing with my time particularly at the height of the pandemic.
So at least it is possible.

Hi,
Heavily modified 2496 makes me happy. Remember this unit gives good options for qualified people.
Nice setup you managed, glad a year of adjustmens gave value.
Discouragement received, but its. Try, or just...Dont..
Also noted today that the HiVi D5.8 seems very positively experienced by people. And Ive been sitting on like 24+ of these for ten years.
Ill look into Xilica, which is unknown to me. Ebay says 2250 for XP-4080. Which probably has the needed specifications.
My skills is within electronics. But prefer something I dont have to modify to much, before perfection is chased.
Thanks a lot. Ill continue my journey.
