Vintage yamaha horns cabinet. Is it worth it?

Hello everyone. I have a chance to purchase the cabinets in the picture. No speakers. Are they useful?
I am currently in the process of building a lascala bass bin and have not yet built it.
Maybe it's better to buy only some of the cabinets?

what is the size of the W-bin
dont know, i think its double 15"
I'm undecided whether to take the W-bin or the mids horn😕
i have 2 jbl 2226 at the moment.
How deep is the mid woof hole to the horn mouth ? eyeballing it, 300hz, maybe
for the mid woof: its double 12". i love the k400 klipsch horn, they go down to 300hz,do you think the mid woof can play with the k400?
Normally you should get paid to take the cabinets away.
not in this case🙂 100$ for one piece.
If you have not tried horns yet this might be an opportunity. I'd begin with the top and mid. You'll also need woofers, either sensitive or bi-amped.
thanks, definitely i take the top, It is very difficult to build them, But it does not appear that they have go to 400hz

Yes, the priorities are a little different to home use. The vertical dispersion will widen below a higher frequency. Loading was the benefit of this tradeoff, for higher power.

Still, this kind of horn and compression tweeter, with some careful EQ and room placement/direction might get you started.

Has it ever been determined what the mid cabinet and horn are? Sounds like the horn is the h1230. What’s the 2-12”horn cabinet?
Is there a model number from Yamaha for this combo? To me this would smoke a la Scala and be damn close to a jubilee for a whole lot less money. Veneer could make these beautiful. TIA

From memory when I was modelling drivers for my midbass horns the 2226 JBL driver did not model as well as the evm15, atlec 515 type drivers. It modelled ok for the low bass but showed a roll off in the upper bass so not as easy to integrate with mid horns. Maybe the driver works better in the real world than the sims predict ? I went with evm15L drivers which performed as modelled. There's the option to use your 2226's in vented boxes, as they perform extremely well in them. I'm not trying to put the 2226 driver down btw as it is a really great driver, just for me modelled a lot better in a vented box than a FLH.

You may be buying yourself a problem, even if given away or free.
Unless you specifically need those cabinets for whatever reason , forget them.

Sounds like buying a cheap hat at a pawnshop and then putting "your head" on a jig, to fit the hat.

I do not see "cabinets" there but some funky, very NOT flat sounding EMPTY boxes which need everything.

I would work the other say, put together the speaker components I already have FIRST, and THEN build the cabinets, crossovers, etc.

It would be very different if they were fully assembled, working, but sadly that is not the case.

To me, that looks like:

As the final nail in the coffoin: are you giving up Stereo and going back to MONO???
