Hi there - Im doing some remedial work on a Leak Stereo 30 for my brother – I have found and ordered subs as follows:
BC148 - BC548C
BC149 - BC549C
BC117 - ???????? (B grade).
The last trannie BC117 is the NPN pre-driver in a TO106 package, and has types 2n5551, BF257,BF297, 2N5964, 2N5965 as recommended replacements.
Im wondering if there is really that much special about this BC117 - could I potentially use one of these commonly available types to replace it? I have both of these common types on-hand:
- MJE150030 - That trannie for example has better VCE and VCB specs, similar hFe, however a lower fT of 30 (compared to the original 60 MhZ,
- KSC2690 – that trannie (the non-A version) has the same VCE & VCB specs, the same gain, however a higher fT (at 155 Mhz).
Any ideas appreciated - thanks!

If it's of any help, BC117 transistors would appear to be available from this English supplier:
BC117 Transistors - 18 in stock to buy, photo, pdf datasheet, rfq, obsolete

NTE154? Although- I feel like I have saw those trans listed on a site. I am going to look around.
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
2SC4102, 2SC2240, 2SC3423, MPSA42
