The shielded version seems to be some sort of OEM, as it is not on the d-s-t homepage. To my knowledge, only Madisound and PE carry them. Madisound are the only ones to give frequency response curves. Strangely, linearity above 8 kHz seems to be poorer in the SC compared to the regular version, also f_s is higher. Measurement problem or real?
I can't imagine any reason why f_s and high range linearity should be influenced.
Also, a properly designed Nd magnet system should drive the iron into saturation, hence we can hope that the SC has better motor linearity (i.e. lower harmonic and intermodulation disto). Has anybody made a comparision or have the means to measure an SC?

Do they have a data sheet for the SC? Their homepage works, but their Vifa button does not.

You might want to think about the xt19 instead. Also, only at solen.
My main issue with the xt25 is it's off axis performance. Yes, it doesn't go down low, but I'm not sure the shielded would be any better. Theoretically, the neo magnet design could be made to make it more linear, but, it may also only be for shielding. Plus, you're stuck with off axis performance.
The xt19 should have better off axis performance, excellent linear distortion, but probably will still have to be crossed over high.
