Any one had any experience with this driver. I've found a kit that uses these and the tweeter I already have. Same size box and there is a crossover to suit.

A buddy of mine built a pair of mtm's with the pl18 and a scan speak tweeter. They sound lovely. A bit of a chesty coloration at about 800hz, but it's subtle and they're otherwise excellent. Not sure if that helps you at all. I'd certainly take a shot on its little brother if it was me.
The PL series are excellent drivers. I've used the PL11 in the past with good results.
IMO you have nothing to lose in trying it.
There's a comment about the PL14 here.

Better check their free air impedance profile to be sure the suspension is in acceptable condition for bass performance.
It's quite a bassy little driver, according to Troels Gravesen:

Because it is relatively inefficient. 5" paper cones can sound a little unforgiving to my ears.
A polycone Peerless 830860 looks a good unit too:
Peerless HDS PPB 830860
Either way, a bedroom speaker really. Won't go loud. Not a lot of bass. Maybe 15L is better.

Vifa PL (and in general, it's a house-sound kind of thing for the most part) are great drivers with a very listenable character. I rather like when drivers can be played widerange without nasty breakup, because even good crossovers can't mitigate ALL ringing.
