w00t! Finally I got my nView Spectra to work thanks to uvodee's cable goodness. But now I need some composite input. Does anyone have recommendations on a cheap one?

btw... I'll post pics of my ghetto setup sometime. I can't get the lighting right, because the flash drowns out the picture totally.

Rellikom's VGA converter from e-bay

Just thought I'd add, I clicked Rellikom's link to the e-bay auctions for the VGA convertor on e-bay, and bought one: 29.95 + 7 shipping.

Got it quickly, and tried it on my PC CRT - works great, composite from my DSS looked fabulous.

Still not ready to try it on my DIY setup, but looks good so far.

Only bummer is it takes only SVID and Composite.

You might want to take a look at the Viewsonic VB50HRTV which can be had for $99. I use it with my setup and it scales s-video and composite all the way up to 1024x768. You'll want something that goes at least all the way up to the native rez of your LCD. You usually get what you pay for and not all VGA converters are equal quality... you can't just look at the specs, you need to check out reviews.

RelliKom

what is the rezolution that PS2 / X-BOX / GameCube Universal VGA BOX output on the screen? On a 15" monitor does it fill all the screen or it makes black borders?I ask that because my eizo let me watch the rezolusions below 1024X768 with black borders if i want so i want to know how PS2 / X-BOX / GameCube Universal VGA BOX works in this matter.

Full screen 640x480 no bars

not sure of other resolutions
only tried it with 640x480
Im really only concerned with big screen tv anyway so its
"good enough"

But for under $150 total setup cost (shipping included) you cant beat a 8 foot tv
(sx812c,dukane sf4030,vga box)

Still looking for a good screen

Cant wait to close on my new house,I'll have a perfect space to setup a dedicated home theater/rec room.

I figure I'll be around $1k complete (5.1 audio,DVD,VHS,remote controlled lighting,seating,etc...)not bad:nod:

SOOOOOOOOOO glad I stumbled across this forum!!!!

Rellikom...there is a place in the states that sells excellent screens...I can find the name...they are a black anodized aluminum frame surrounding the screen...they Look High tech..I have used them in past designs for LCD projection

Cheers!!The DIRT®
