Does anyone know of a small driver that can go down below 40hz can fit in a small box? i was hoping 6" or less, but will go to 7 if it is impossible (a really tiny one would be even better aesthetically)
They do not have to be efficient .
It is for a mains powered "ghetto blaster" which is really just a powered mp3 player amplifier with a full range driver , and a seperately amplified sub to fill it out per channel and take some of the strain off.
i thought perhaps TB would have something like that, but searching in the PE sub section nothing takes my fancy. i would prefer under $50 each.

Well,
The Scan Speak 15W/4531G00 (~$200 each) would do it. The trouble is you want low bass out of a small driver at low cost. If you go to a 7" it will be easier to do for $50-60 (or less) from several vendors.
I would look here:

Look over the small tang band subwoofers at www.partsexpress.com, there will be one for you
neutron7 said:yes that bandor 100 looks perfect! its a bit too expensive to use for that application though.
what would happen if i got some speakers and lowered their resonance by increasing the cone weight? they only have to go up to about 120hz max.
Re: Try this,
that one looks perfect! thanks

What about the Tang Band W5-1138SA 5-1/4" or W6-1139SC 6-1/2"?
I've used the W6-1139SC to replace the blown factory sub in a Camaro. I was surprised with how well it performed.
