I've been using a TP20MK2 for a home office stereo, and I'm very pleased with it. However, I've been debating updating to the TP60 for more power. I understand there are at least a few versions of the TP60 (the one with the completely flat front plate and the one with the angled space at the top of the front plate for the word "Topping" being the obvious cosmetic differences). Is there a consensus which is the best? Are there clear ways to tell which version you're ordering based on the photos and/or desciption on sites like Amazon and Ebay? Thanks for your help.

The one with the angled Topping logo is the new version (AKA 2014 version) as you can see here: TOPPING TP60
I have both units and have modded both. The major changes are in the components. The PSU caps for example are 4 Nishicon FW in the new version, compared to 2 no brand in the old (about the same capacitance total though). Also, the input caps are now OEM metalized type, versus probably ceramic type in the old one.
Unfortunately I will not be able to help you on which one sounds best in their out of the box form, because I've modded them both, the minute I got them on my door. What I can tell you is that after the mods (and they have been modded differently), the new one sounds better. It has a more detailed, yet warm sound, with a darker background, faster transients, tighter bass. Simply LOVE mine!
Oh, and since you will use it to replace your TP-20MK2, I think you are on for a very, very pleasant surprise... The difference is much beyond power rating. T-amps are known to demand a VERY clean power source to show their best. So I think that only the fact that the TP-60 has it's own somewhat over sized linear PSU, with good filtering, makes it OWN the other Toppings that use crappy switching bricks. IMO
You won't go wrong.
