Is it possible to modify/bridge Ventus EZ modules to drive balanced headphones? They are 600 Ohms, 70mW.
Absolutely, the easiest way would be if you have a balanced source such as Opus, or Buffallo, then you would simply wire one normal phase on one opposite of phase. Should work really well. And the nice thing is you could still use the +out and GND single ended.
Could you post a little drawing of how to do it if possible? I don't want to make a mistake. I plan to feed it with Opus.
For each channel of the DAC:
One Ventus: DAC+ to Ventus +; DAC - to Ventus -; Gnd to Gnd
The other Ventus: DAC+ to Ventus -; Dac - to Ventus +; Gnd to Gnd
Thus one Ventus gives you the in-phase signal. The other Ventus gives you the anti-phase signal
Anyone?...
very tempting to add just another set of ventues and get a balanced headphones amp. (ofcourse I will have to balance my headphone..😱)
thanks for the time

I'm going dual-mono BuffaloII/IvyIII, but need SE output. If using Ventus EZ for this purpose, would I need yet another transformer and Placid BP, or could I power the boards from the 2 Placid BPs powering the IvyIIIs?
No need for another PS. 🙂
Thanks Russ. Good news indeed. Now all I need to hear is that the AC2 and USB Transport will be ready to ship next week 😉.
OK, I have my Ventus EZ. Does it need any particular configuration for bal to SE conversion? I've just used the components it comes with.
I prefer the LME49990 opamp over the stock LME49710 opamp.
I'm not changing opamps as I don't believe it will make much difference. I'm sure Russ chose the right one for the job.
I was thinking in terms of resistors.
Stock form it's already set up for BAL-SE conversion, no? This is how it's set up in the normal Ventus.

I assumed it might be, but just wanted to make sure before installation.
Thanks Brian, so it has unity gain I assume. Each Ventuz EZ will b following an Ivy III, so I don't think I'll need gain. I'm currently reading up on opamps in "Electronics For Dummies" so I understand these things now.😀
Doesn't Ivy III have the Ventus EZ already built in?
Yes. I assume he is using it after a dual-mono Buffalo, with two IVY-IIIs.
