Please help! Velodyne S-1200-B was blowing 2A fuse...

I had not used this sub for years, hooked it up and it immediately blew the 2A fuse, I traced it to a faulty bridge rectifier a RS 403L. I happened to have another rec. a KBU 8J, that rec has significantly higher capacity but I assumed... it would function just fine, am I right? The fuse no longer blows but the sub still does not work. No light appears next the on/off switch when activated (the switch does work) no clicks/hums just some heat emanating from the cct board when plugged in. The transformer is working fine based on the output voltages. Directly wiring the speaker to an amp produced sound so it is something on the board. I cannot see any swollen caps only some discoloration below a pair of 1.1k resistors. This forum helped me very successfully repair my NAIM NAIT a couple of years ago so I'm optimistic.
