Welleman speakerunits?
From the specs it looks like a descent speaker:
It's dirt-cheap (approx 15 euro)
Could someone with a Speaker-Cad-program run the numbers and tjeck performance in a 15-25L bass-reflex box?
I'm thinking of:
1) A sub with 2 of these
2) or a party-speaker with 2 subs and a high-freq horn?
If the unit actually can witstand 250W RMS I'll be very suprised, but a 1½" Vc should be good for say 50-150W and that will be enough
Here´s the data:
Velleman VDSSP8/8
Impedance (Z) 8
Resonant frequency (fs) 35Hz
Max. frequency range f3-6,000Hz
Music power 350WMAX
Power rating (P) 250WRMS
SPL (1W/1m)Â 91dB
Suspension compl. (Cms) 0.25mm/N
Moving mass (Mms) 65g
Mech. Q factor (Qms) 4.95
Electr. Q factor (Qes) 0.66
Total Q factor (Qts) 0.58
Equivalent volume (Vas) 43 l
DC resistance (Re) 6,4
Force factor (BxL) 12.6
Voice coil induct. (Le) 0.8mH
Linear excursion (XMAX) ±6mm
Any ideas?

I'm using a shared computer right now and i can´t download program.
Otherwise you're absolutely right. I would like to download some SW soon and try it.
I´m also sharing the data and picture of the welleman unit because I haven't seen them before and from the data the look promising.
I'm not trying to get you guys to do my work...

Re: Welleman speakerunits?
Hi,
just by inspection I can tell you a 15 - 25 L bass reflex is out of the
question as Qts is too high for reflexing. Sealed Q= 0.9 to 0.8 is
probably as good as its going to get. For this you need a sealed
box of effective volume 29L (0.9) to 43L (0.8). Note any box bigger
than Vas, Vas will dominate so for Q = 0.7 you need 90L.
/sreten.

Is this an 8" driver? I played with the numbers a little bit with that assumption and it looks to me like either a 50-55 liter sealed box or a 3m or so tappered TL would be the best bet. I am not sure whether a back horn would work or not but the Q seems on the high side for that. As others have pointed out a ported box for this driver would be quite large (over 130 liters. BR does not seem to be appropriate.

Hi and thanx for the answers. The unit is (as far as I know) not meant to be a hifi-speaker. It's build to be a "pro" unit.
I must admit that my speaker-theory-knowledge is pretty forgotten, but I seems to me that it should be possible to make a ported box with less volume than 130L... -although it might not have the best performance.
I should probably download some SW soon and start playing around. What the best programs out there?
Regards

Just FYI, I see nothing about it that even resembles a professional loudspeaker driver.
