Designing a Variable 10-14Volt 10-15A BUCK requlator
Application: Lead acid battery charger/HAM psu
TL494 PWM o/p volts and current limit>> high side driver > high side n-ch power mosfet Z44/48 high current torroid inductor/ fast recovery diode...
all inputs welcome...

You haven't consider to buy a dirt cheap charger if the main purpose was to get the battery charged?
Yes, but many of the dirt cheap from China is pretty effecient. A linear charger is hardly effecient if I mean the same thing as you.
I just checked at www.biltema.se and 9 A charger for 30 USD, 5 A for 20 USD!
It's called "Batteriladdare" if you want to check, only in swedish though. I'm pretty sure you can get a decent charger in India.

I wish to DIY...
looking for a high side driver for the MOSFET..even though i have IR2110 i don't want to waste it (the low side driver will not be utilised.)...

and i have most of the stuff lying ..2 inch torroids, power transformers, metal cabinets..etc...etc..and will be in junk soonf i am not using these anyway...
I'm experimenting with a 12V Lead-acid battery charger, for 20A. I can send the final schematic, when I'm finished. This is a constant current schematic, based on LM2574-ADJ. This is a 0.5A DIP-8 packaged device. I "boosted" the current with a 80A "cute" MOSFET 🙂
After that I will have to make a 2-12 (of 2-15V) supply, for about 15A, for powering a few stepper motors. I don't know, how will I make that. Maybe I will use LM2574-ADJ, and some current-boost MOSFET, but this LMxxxx IC can operate only at a fixed, 52kHz frequency, so I will need quite big output choke.

Are you driving this from mains voltage??
If you are, you have a good desgin for killing people (or things)😀

Yes, there's a potmeter, I can set the charging current with that.
Actually, this charger is for huuuuge 210Ah lead-acid battery, which is in a tractor.

Hey there
I tried to download your zip file but it just saves as "battery" .. I add the .zip extention and I still can't open it. Is it just a schematic? Could you perhaps post a picture? I'd like to give advice perhaps.
