Vandersteen 2Ce sibilance problem

Vandersteen 2Ce

Is R4 really marked 20 ohms (looks huge here!), is it not 2.0 ?

R1 & R3 are a part of impedance correction, I will not play with that values but advices of very experienced members. If they didn't fire already, it's your idea is maybe not a good one imho ? You eventually may cause more damages. And at least some very valuable fellows have had inputs (I'm not but being there) you don't listen to.

Some pre have a loudness button that bump an area of treble and bass. The treble pot on an integrated amp I know is centred aroud 10K hz, don't know about how much db nore the slope though. So midrange is not near 10 k hz.

R5 is a variable resistor from your schematic ?

R1 & R3 with R4 were the ones that burnt out. so the original values are unknown. R4 is 20R as that is what sounds the best. there is no loudness button on the pre. R5 is 6R8 the VR is the one below which is not numbered.
Thanks.

Anyway, I understand now the shematic you draw is not the genuine one. It could be wize to look at PB2 advices if he draw the genuine filter and follow it exactly : homs and capacitance and voltage, wattage. If 3 resistors // don't swap it by one of the whole value and so on.

I have now tried many configurations of resistor values and have also found that the tweeter is not the original unit, the original one was a metal dome Vifa D19AD-05 I believe? The tweeter now is an Audax TW025AO so now I have no clue as to how it would compare with the original? but the crossover is configured for the Vifa! Now that I have had the time to experiment with the resistors, going up and down in values over a period of time I have been thinking more that it may not be "sibilance" but actual distortion I am hearing and I find that if I listen closely by ear to each speaker it comes from the Tweeter, midrange and also the bass. So is there a possibility that the tweeter having been changed is causing interference within the whole network? I wonder if anyone knows if this tweeter is suitable or if there would be a better choice that would be closer to the spec of the original Vifa D19AD-05?
