Hello DIY experts,
I'm seeking help with choosing right tube phone stage for my setup.
I have an Primaluna prologue one integrated amplifier, which I currently use with Fiio X5 gen 2 as a source (I know it's not ideal and I want to switch to full size DAC in a future). Right now I want to add an turntable to my setup. The turntable will most probably be an second-hand Technics SL 1210 Mk2. As for a cartridge I'll probably stick with MM, or high output MC for the start (cartridge recommendations also welcome!).
I really like the lively sound of my amplifier, so I think it would be best to also stick with tubes in phono stage (but I'm not against silicone parts where it has it's reason).
This would be my first DIY project and I'm quite inexperienced in electronics so I think either pcb kit, or some simple diy project will suits me best.
I want the total costs of the phono to be around 300 - 700 USD price range. (the less the better and I want potentially best price/performance ratio).
I did already some research on the internet (and also on this forum), so I have some candidates, on which I want to know your opinion. I will also greatly appreciate any other recommendations.
What seems as good starting project to me is this valvewizard's phono.
Main downside for me is that I can’t find any reviews or build topics for this phono. But the guy who sells it seems to be quite experienced. Also the price is very reasonable.
I’m also considering kits from tubes4hifi namely PH14 and PH16 -they seems to have very good reviews, but as I live in Europe I need to add shipping and import taxes, so they are attacking my price limit.
Any other recommendations welcome -if the kit / parts are available in Europe, the better.
Thanks
Lukas

The 834 copy boards on EBay are fairly easy to build...I'm really a beginner and built mine successfully there's a huge thread here on building them http://www.lencoheaven.net/forum/index.php?topic=20984.0
The sound is amazing for the price to build the kit...and you can customise just how far you want to go with it.

Thanks for the tip. I was actually considering this kit, as it also looks nice. Good to hear, that it also sounds good.
In a meantime I've already ordered valvewizard's board, he was helpfull and I'm waiting for it to arrive.
Only think I'm little bit confused about is how to solve the rectifier. I've ordered this transformer, which should be within recommended values, but don't know if I it's enough to use some very simple scheme with diodes and one capacitor, or if the sound would benefit from more complicated approach, or even some PCB (similar as it's in your kit).
I'm also unsure if elevated AC for the heater would case any real problem, or if I should rectify also heater supply.

My Sumo Athena is breaking down, to the point where most inputs have a buzz or no signal. I have a 12AX7 volume control, fed from a homemade passive switch box. There's room for a kit phono stage in there, I would prefer solid state. My Little Bear 12AX7 is too noisy for MC+SUT and 98db/watt speakers.
Any recommendations for a mosfet or JFET phono stage kit, cw power supply?
Low parts count is preferred, and I don't mind op amps.
