Yes, cats are really cuddly!Cats really are better pets.

Cat predation on wildlife - WikipediaFree-ranging domestic cats (mostly unowned) are the top human-caused threat to wildlife in the United States, killing an estimated 1.3 to 3.7 billion birds and 6.3 to 22.3 billion mammals annually.
In Scotland, we train our cats to tolerate the bagpipes from a very early age! 😉
Would those cats that cannot be trained end up as Sporrans?😉
That's a remarkable improvement.
It is because I can move stuff with one hand while vacuuming with the other. Not the case with the big clumsy upright.
I had no idea this thread was going to get as much input as it has. Sign of the times. I wonder how different it might be if this was posted in the 1950's?
In the early 1900s even base grade policeman - in London - would have a general purpose domestic servant who would know how to use a good stiff brush on all carpets. A present day quality carpet expert tells me that it is still the best way to clean a carpet.
In the late 40s and early 50s this still applied to Country households in Ireland.
Just flipped to SKY NEWS - adverts of course - and a MAN is using a very flimsy black and lime green G-Tech vacuum!

Pleased that I was young when I was! 😎

Down here in 'civilised' Scotland the war-pipes are played for the minimum possible time.
Not for the canny Borders men to give warning that death and destruction were coming to meet their enemies.
However, for some it is an economic necessity to 'put on a show' for the tourists.
I live within less than a mile from Floors Castle, one such tourist magnet. The Castle hosts a day of piping competitions each Summer. Best be well away for the day!
Many years ago we rented a house for a party of eight at a great town called Brora. A wife hired a girl piper (who I gather was a top notch player of International standing. She really did turn out a roaring success as she refused to play 'War Music'; rather she enchanted us by playing the 'airs and sad laments. Brings tear to the eye...as that was nearly 50 years ago! God be with the days.
I couldn't stand all that caterwauling either! 🙂The Castle hosts a day of piping competitions each Summer. Best be well away for the day!
I'm not a fan of animal-mask sporrans.Would those cats that cannot be trained end up as Sporrans?😉
However, back in Victorian times, Scottish Wildcat sporrans were popular.

I must be one of the lucky ones.
Battery is still fine
Suction good, beater brush okay
Haven’t dropped it yet
One minor repair requiring only a couple dabs of hot glue a couple months back
With all the horror stories I hear, not only did we get it for half price, but all the things that go wrong, really haven’t after four years.
Happy New Year everyone.

Jings Cal, where did those four years go?
It would not be an exaggeration to say I was totally swept away by this thread!
All the best for 2024.

I bought one several years ago. I use it more and more as my back doesn't like me kneading bread, especially 6 loaves of raisin bread at Christmas time. My daughter got one last year.Did someone mention mixers?
We picked up the Kitcheaid Pro 600. The Mrs. is very happy and I really like the meat grinder attachments.
It doesn't suck at all.
The key to using it is don't get in a hurry. Let it take it's time. Way different than my mothers double beater mixer for sure.
