Im building a DI box using an old UTC LS10X transformer. Its going to be a clone of the Bruce Swedien Bass Box DI. Bruces box was wired backwards with the secondary as instrument input. But it's unclear how the DI XLR output was wired.
You can get many different impedances depending on how you wire it.
I have one source saying the original Bruce box DI output was wired in series.
How do I wire it in series? Is that the 500Ω version?
Like this:
1 = XLR Hot
3&4 Joined
6 = XLR Cold
But isn't 500Ω too high for a DI output going into a mic pre?
I would greatly appreciate any recommendations or guidance regarding how to wire the DI output.
