I have a rectangular "hole" in my concrete wall that I am considering to fit a diy sub enclosure into. I have a broken pc13 ultra from svs with a working driver.
I assume it is okay to install the driver on the side like a normal subwoofer? Or can it only be downfiring?
I am not a big handy man so I was thinking a simple box with no port would be easier right?
Can the enclosure be too big? I think the full enclosure will be a little bigger in volume than the cylinder from SVS. Is that a okay or should I try and match the volume of the pc 13 ultra enclosure?
The shape will be wide and flat, like a deck of cards. Is that a problem is I make the same volume as the svs enclusure?

Most likely it's not designed to be only down firing and it will work just fine in normal position also.
Without port is a bit easier yes and the enclosure cannot be too big. In this case, when it will be a sealed enclosure it will be a good thing actually.
If I were you I would just install it and listen how it sounds. Probably it's ok, then you can also add some sound dampening inside and try with different amounts to fine tune it to your liking.
