Do I have to use a sealer first on the mdf then primer or just the primer ?
The sealer I was thinking of using is watered down pva glue
Or is there something else I can use that is cheap.
Thanks

Buy MDF primer. I think you can mix PVA with water-based wood primer too, or maybe it's 50/50 water/PVA...
Anyway, don't try using 'normal' primer on MDF. I did, and I used about 3 times more primer than necessary because it just soaks it all up. I have also tried car primer in an aerosol and that was even worse.

Where can you get MDF primer? I've already soaked 2 cans of automotive primer into my .2 cubic foot MDF boxes, and I've still got a LONG way to go at this pace.
I heard using artist's Gesso paint (used for priming canavas) for primer was the way to go for MDF.
