Using a single transformer in the Zen V2

I posted this on the solid state board by mistake and got no response so I thought ide try again in the right place.
I am currently using a 35V AC EI transformer in my Zen. It gets very hot and is regulated down to 37V DC. Clearly this is unacceptable.
I want to replace it with a Toroidal and was thinking of running it at 34V Dc. I was looking at a transformer with 0 12 0 12 secondaries to run in series with a current rating of 10.4A per secondary giving a total VA rating of 250. Is this adequate. The original article gives no indication of the requirements on a transformer run in this configeration and I cannot get my head around the technicalities of transformer specs.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

It should work fine. I expect you'll get about 32 V DC,
and the transformer won't overheat.
