A friend has lent me his Dac-in-the -box which has a burnt out power supply. In order to get it going again I hooked up a couple of 6V batteries (all I have to hand) to give +/- 6V and was surprised to hear it work fine with no apparent reduction in o/p compared to my onboard DAC. Will the unit be running at less than optimum with 6V? And in what way?
