I have a little BT amplifier that works great on series of 4 18650 cells. I want to make a boombox out of it. At full power that setup works 4 to 5 hours. I`d love to charge it at the same time as playing. I have vague idea where to start with it. leaving it plugged for a long time is what I`m after. Open to ideas.
I am doing similar build. 2p5s for boombox(not sure about speaker yet). TPA3116 w. BT.
My plan is to keep charging voltage below maximum for 5s. Ie. 4.1v*5, Using some check dc dc converter from ebay and common DC laptop charger. They have voltage and current regulation.
I think this will work ok, because if voltage is reached, batteries will not charge.
Waiting for BMS and batteries before i can test. I am searching for laptop batteries, but ill probably end up buying some samsung ones.
These batteries have prolonged life when keeping charge current low, low voltage cutoff and not fully charging. BMS has voltage cutoff at 2.9v (i think). Not balanced charging, but charging voltage limit. Balanced charging is more expensive and if one balance them before use, i think it will be good.
Please correct me if anything is wrong 🙂
