I've got an old 3-way speaker that I replaced the woofer on. I used a car audio speaker which gave a 93 SPL rating. (this was for 2 coils parallel) But when hooked up using only one coil I yeild a net efficiency of something like 88 db 1w/1m. So my mid and high freq. drivers are more effiecient. I allready have a reasonable fullrange speaker set that I like the sound of so I was considering removing the mid/high freq drivers from the 3-way. Can I just disconnect these drivers or will that cause my x-over to take all the heat that should be dissapated with powering these drivers. What is a good way to effectively remove those drivers from the system or make them quieter? Thanks in advance, Max
It's a little unclear what you want to do but my best guess is to disconnect the input of the crossover from the terminals on the box and connect the woofer directly to the terminals on the box.
