Toshiba SS-25 drivers
I guess this is an appropriate thread-surrection.
I found some Toshiba SS-25's, the mid/woof has what I'd call a massive alnico magnet (I think)
These cabs sound better to me with the backs off.
Question is: Are these re badged drivers, if so what are they and has anyone used them successfully? I ask because I'm right up against the edge of my speakers to space ratio so I have to pick what I keep carefully.

Nice looking drivers. Tell us, what is in the center of the drone cone dust cap? It almost looks like a vent hole.
Re: Toshiba SS-25 drivers
Low "woofer" appears to be a passive slave, which will be not active with open back, besides a vintage driver with relative "small" alnico magnet may very well be a high qts driver, so it makes sense

Got a pair today, driver/tweeter pair in each cab. Little rascals with nice wood. Logo has three horizontal lines and an "R". Drivers say "DS-6531, 99-03, VC 8 Ohm", alnico and not ceramic. Pics to follow.
Re: Toshiba SS-25 drivers
Looks like you have what could be termed FE207A. (they are either Foster or Coral -- the tweeter tends to have me thinking Foster). Good score.

Got a pair of single driver "made in Japan" wooden boxes today. The badge is an "R" over "HiFi". Drivers are ceramic, but numbered
1520130, 8 ohm, 3w, Japan, 97202
Blonde paper cones with blonde paper dust cap and black fabric surrounds. I'll post a pic or 2 when I remember to bring the camera home from work. Any ideas on this one?
