Me neither. On the xformer (found a pic on an ebay auction), it is written that it cannot be used with an amp more powerfull than a Punch 200, which is 2X100W into 2r.
Weight is a reasonable guide to transformer power.
True, but...
This one might be an auto-transformer...power rating not the same.
(and is audio)
🙂
It is car audio for boy racers. We are not talking serious hi-fi here! As long as it makes a big noise from a small car the user will be satisfied.
Thank you All for your reply,
Yes, this transformers are used to connect let say 4 Ohm speaker to amplifier when amplifier will see it as 1 Ohm speaker, load amplifier at full power and deliver maximum to the speaker.
The weight of each transformer is 2.9 kg.
Can I use this transformers in reverse to connect 4 Ohm speaker to 8 ohm transformer output on tube amplifier?
Or will it protect the speakers from DC voltage in case of SS amplifier?
Best regards.
Sasha.

Yes, you could use them in reverse. Yes, it will protect a speaker from DC - but it might make things worse for the amplifier, depends on how much DC there is.
