Well if you willing to pay $150 for a $8 ADUM isolator chip which is an isolator as the name imply. then go a head.

Nowadays USB isolators are really quite affordable. A full-speed (12Mbits) device goes for under $5. High-speed (480Mbits) is more pricey but the amount has come down a lot recently, now they go for around $30.
