I'm attempting to put an ADC together, to use with a laptop. The chipsets used are the opa2836 as input buffers, the pcm4202 as adc, the cs8406 as transmitter. The main parameters are:
- 24bit/96KHz,
- spdif out,
- powered from an USB port (but isolated).
Those parameters are linked to the fact that I plan to use the ministreamer from minidsp to link it to the laptop.
At this point, the pcb is far from finalized (the power section is still to be fleshed out) but I'd welcome any input on either the schematic, the chipsets settings and the tentative pcb layout.
The opamps and the pcm4202 will be powered from a regulated 4.75V.
As I'm using eagle freeware, I'm restricted to 2 layers... 🙁
Thanks in advance for any help. 🙂

Interesting. I've had an ADC on my to-do list for ages but still haven't gotten round to actually doing anything - I'll be watching from the sides for now 🙂

Thing is... since SY pointed me towards the focusrite 2i2, I'm hesitating. This project will cost at least as much* as that interface (129€) with a significant risk of not being any better while being a lot more limited in fonctionnalities. It's quite fun and interesting to design but certainly not cost effective.
* ministreamer: 40€, enclosure 25€, pcb 15€, parts 50€... we're already at the focusrite's price and that's without shipping.

Surely you have been into this hobby long enough that you know there's no point competing on price - haven't you? 😀
