USB Out for PCM4222EVM based ADC

Hello Folks,

I'm on my way to build a (supposedly high quality) A>D (24/96) converter based on the TI PCM4222EVM evaluation board. SPDIF/AES/EBU Out is desirable and available for my PCM based Audio Listening system, but e.g. to record my vinyl records I would prefer a USB Interface which is not on the board. I²S is used on the board, though, so may be an option to connect to a USB Out Solution.

I've looked into many corners of the web, but failed to find a board, device, system or schematic + Win7 driver solution for the I²S or even SPDIF to USB conversion purpose.

This is puzzling, as I happen to own an aging but working M-Audio Transit USB doing exactly what I want. But just how long will M-Audio provide drivers for it... So I'd much prefer a more sustainable solution.

What can you folks propose?

Thanks a lot for the help and advice!!
Regards,
Winfried

For spdif to usb, you could have a look at the offers of minidsp : usbstreamer and ministreamer (depending on the sample rate you're after).

Hello Ben,

Thanks for your answer!

I thought that the miniDSP mini-/USB-streamers were only going one way from USB to DSP/DAC. After your suggestion I just had a second, more thorough look and YES! actually this may work!

I'll have a post in the miniDSP Forum to get this straight.

Thanks a lot again!
Regards,
Winfried
