It was just a simple run in WinISP (vented design) using the Tang band supplied TS parameters. Nothing special.
If you want pure European design and build, then brands like Scanspeak, Jordan, EAD, (all build in the factory of Scanspeak in Denmark) are good. In France you got Supravox and EMS who build in house and Sonido does the same in Hungary. Other brands (Faital, Beyma, Kartesian, ...) exist, but i'm not sure they do fabrication in Europe...
Hi,
Dayton has a few fullranges in their list, but they are most probably produced in China. Hartley have produced an iconic FR, but production seems to have stopped a few years ago. Then there were the Babb drivers, but the available information is a bit short.

Dayton is PEs housebrand. They are made by OEMs where/whoever they find that tend towards cheapest. Mostly in China.
I think Hartley are still producing drivers, albeit 'at a price'. A big one. They don't seem to have changed much in 5 or 6 decades, and there isn't a great deal of published data, but the engineering has always been interesting.
Hi Dr. Lindgren,
I forgot where I read that they ceased production a few years ago, sadly. There´s still a website online, but it´s not very informational. Should you have other or more info, I´d be interested! I was trying to get some info on their 18" driver, but gave up at some point.

I'll see if I can dig out some of the details. They may well have ceased since I last checked, but worth looking into.
Hi Scott,
That would be nice. I´m afraid I already found everything what there is to be found online, including the Hotei speaker and Hartleys own unbelievable bad website. I gave up in the meantime and got a Fertin 18" fieldcoil instead of the Hartley.

I would also like to find something in a 6.5" like a Dayton PS-180, again with a lower Fs and larger Xmax than what is typical (like the Dayton). Efficiency is not a priority.
It needs to be in production (since someone asked) and again I'm just looking for drivers, not complete systems.

This is likely as close as you will find as far as American-made goes. You get the lower Fs you want, but lower Xmax OTOH. The latter might not matter a whole lot in actual use.
I'm not shilling for Misco 🙂 but the above 6.5" and similar 8" piqued my interest a while back; I'd be willing to give them a shot if I needed yet another speaker.
I'm not so sure that that particular Misco 6 1/2" FR is made in the USA, it doesn't say Made in Minnesota underneath the picture... Many of their products do have the Made In Minnesota label, which I do think is pretty cool.
Ditto. It has some of the Porsche vibe too (and Porsche wheels). It looks like its doing a 100 while standing still.I'm getting more of a VW Beetle vibe from that pic. So is it a Buggada, or a Vuggati? 🙂
