Upgrade oscillators in a Chinese - (not original) Amanero board

IIUC the NDK SDAs were being manufactured in the AKM factory that was destroyed by fire. There was reported to be a shortage of NDK SDA for awhile until they established new production elsewhere.

Also, could be SD and SDA have the same markings because SDA were binned from SD after manufacturing.

Interesting. I didn't know AKM manufactured the SDAs. It's very unlikely SDA were binned from SD because this was very time consuming. It look some time to get a stable reading @1Hz though, not to mention the SD was discontiuned forever.

Canvas, very nice clean measurements! May I ask your test setup.. looks somehow familiar.. Holme?
As for the AS318, thanks! Though it looks like 6 -10dB worse results then your NDK SD plot, even after 6dB subtraction for the double test frequency..

Hi,

The measurement device is designed by a Chinese guy. It's still under development as there are some problems to solve, e.g. noise level, cross-talk, interference...etc. However, the close-in reading is pretty accurate with high quality OCXO references. You're right. NDK is still the best in terms of cost and performance. I've ordered some real SDAs. Will post the result soon.

The mentioned PN Chinese gear is On EEVBlog with some replies, Direct link here about.

As now in heavy research for any new as any better to come. The beef question is how to connect Sine vs Square and about the input load to deal with HCMOS/LVCMOS levels and possible DUT loads.

IMHO, those PN measurements are for the oscillators as long time to get down to 1Hz or even lower. So it is not a realtime measurement as DSO & Jitter figures as Ferrari gear required 😱

Also, to get real figures, some other measurement for audio is required as am on research to get this on day on a table.
