I have a preamp from the 90's that has a large separate power supply (ps) with 80 volt output. Preamp works fine. Is there any benefit by renewing/upgrading caps in the ps?
Thanks Jeff. I don't have a schematic. It's part of a Spectral DMC20 preamplifier. A google of Spectral Audio DMC20 will simply bring up pictures. The company does not release schematics. This was a exceptional unit when manufactured. It has a faulty relay now and I'm wondering if I can/should upgrade anything while doing that repair.
I would replace the relay first, and verify all works well first.
Then see if good replacement capacitors are available that will fit the board properly.

If you replace a lot of stuff all at once, and then it doesn't work, you don't know what went wrong.
