Ultimate Octal

Hi all,

I have a whole bunch of NOS Octal tubes just sitting around. I also have some free time on my hands. I want to combine these to create the Ultimate Octal Amp.

The tubes I have include 6SF5GT 6SJ7GT 6SL7GT 6SN7GT.

I'd like to combine these with a flexible power stage which can use EL84, KT88 or 6L6GT depending on my mood.

I like tube power supplies, but I'm not obsessive, what ever is best will do.

Any ideas ? I'm looking to build something interesting to look at and great to listen to. I certainly could not do this without your input, hence this post.

Here goes....

You should be able to build a decent Mullard style circuit with a 6SJ7 voltage amplifier, a 6SN7 LTP, and either KT88 or 6L6 "finals". Forget about different O/P types, as the O/P trafo that's optimal for 1 type will be anything but with another.

Don't forget to CCS load the LTP's tail. Should that require a negative rail, so be it.
