i made this until 1991,
manger pur in the BASSTUBA,
fullrange i found the max. SPL is limited around 5 W impuls,
so what they wrote 120 dB is not real.

Having heard the Manger, i can't get very excited about this horn. Very elegant executing thou, althou the similar topology Yamamura, i'd guess, might work better. And the less elegant, but over the top Klien horn.

Seems that HM likes them, Dave doesn't. Any thoughts on why or what for?

I heard a pair a year or so back. Quite a pleasent sound, rather 'hifi'; they seemed to give the impression of being detailed, but when you started listening closely it all seemed a bit superficial to me, and dynamics, as Dave said, weren't anything to write home about. Not to my taste, although I can understand why some people like them. YMMV as ever.

in Bass, in soundstage, size, if you stand up by listening,

Yes, I'd say you're probably right about them suiting nearfield listening & (lighter) classical Horst. Give them anything more demanding, or ask them some serious questions though & things start to look a little bleak. To each their own.

very interesting looking phase plug on The Aporia. I would assume it improves off axis frequency response.
