My name is not marc.
As for wooden enclosures they are not a great idea for fire safety either, even more so for plastic (although you'll find fire-retardent grades are used for electronics enclosures).
The way to think about things like this is to imagine it does catch fire, against all the odds - will it be contained? Will it emit toxic smoke? Can you justify your design as having taken all reasonable precautions (in front of a jury perhaps)?
Its not a great excuse to the fire investigation officier... Given a choice its better to be safe - commercial equipment is specifically tested to ensure it can't start a fire in various fault scenarios, why not take sensible precautions in any home made equipment too? After all pcbs are made from fire-retardent materials which fail by charring not flaming - a good example to follow.havnt seen a toroid burning in the past,

Real example here: a crowded Rock Club in Buenos Aires caught fire, mattress grade rubber foam had been used as soundproofing instead of designer´s suggested fire retardant type, to hide its ugliness it had been covered in agricultural grade plastic net, both not only highly flammable but also emitting *cyanide* gas, the perfect storm.imagine it does catch fire, against all the odds - will it be contained?
