I just started playing with valves ( I am 56 and did them at college , never soldered a set up before , have fixed a few things ) . Not exactly my cup of tea . However nice to say I became a player . I think it is a mental version of going to the gym . I have a feeling I wont give it up and possibly one day will even fall totally in love with them . My doubt is they are not a box of crayons as a friend said . They hate CD players .

I am afraid you found wrong valves. Mine don't hate CD players. 😀

The reason,

I say probably fake and not fake is the so called (orb) that passes the curtains at the start, its hard to make out a bit like clear gelatine in water..Its not an orb its an outline and I have seen this before. The point of this is if this was you (taking the video), and you know it wasn't fake what would you do?

I wouldn't leave the dogs/cat in the house alone...but that just me.

I hate CD mostly is the truth . I have a good sound . It might be time to buy a proper CD player . The Rega is an inexpensive one I have liked . I was trying to beg a DAC last night . A demo board on eBay was said . Crystal was my favorite in the past . Any ideas ?

My amp I have just finished has moments of excellence . What it isn't is camouflage . My Pro Audio friends are wrong about that . They say that the only way valves can be preferred is colouration . Sorry I totally don't buy that . In fact valves say exactly what is happening . Up to 1.6 W I make even the most stringent hi fi specs without loop feedback . 0.5% THD at 5 W . A push pull next as a bit more power would be nice . Having heard the Marantz 9 with a few upgrades of capacitors I can say it to be a very good amplifier . I will continue until I know how to do that .

A friend has a very expensive transport and DAC which for the life of me I can not recall the names of . It still sounds poor compared to his Gyrodek . In truth the Gyrodek is just middle of the road as turntables go .

Just to keep a little bit on topic .

They say there is no life in the Atacama Desert . I doubt that ( the odd bird flies past and lands , however no resident life ) . If makes life on Mars seem unlikely as it has been a hostile environment for a long time . The Sun shines directly on the surface without the filtering of a thick atmosphere . No magnetosphere to defect solar activity . Bone dry and little oxygen . Even below the surface it may have to be very deep down to survive ( 100 metres ? ) . Perhaps we should dig deep into the Atacama . If Mars has life then Atacama must . I think someone said Atacama has been dry for 60 000 years , that is recent compared with Mars .

LOL electrical tape is conductive...😀

It reminds me of a trick (On a test rig) with trainees to drill out a fuse link solder a diode inside the fuse in secret..Then show them a dc system running then ask them to take the fuse out to isolate the system and do some tests when they refit the fuse and turn the fuse round ...oh it must have blown just try it the other way ..oh my life it works.. takes them about 1/2 hr to work it out..😀

Did you see the Kentucky UFO Chase on Paranormal witness..LOL it looks good police helicopter gets shot at with fire balls and chased by a glowing light..watched from the ground..

Here is a thought just for a laugh,

What if the aliens were life on earth at an earlier time and they engineered us as the planet changed to continue in their place ie we are the engineered aliens..
OK so we would have to find earlier life forms so its a non starter I guess..

Will we do it to ourselves to survive on this planet as it changes?

Something very weird did happen although not that as far as I know . For the first 3 billion years nothing much happened . Then big lifeforms emerged . Seemingly there was a total ice-age which killed off more than 99% of the progress if it should be called that . Then after that an explosion of life . Now the question is this . If this is correct and not some gross error by so called experts why didn't life get going in the first period as fast ? Then when it was almost start from scratch why did it accelerate . That does beg a big question .

Another question . Why is man such a late arrival ? I bet we came significantly later than anything else ? I doubt any insect or microbe is younger than us . I would imagine our brain power is related to that ?

Something very weird...

Reality was reality. Fantasy is weird.

Evidently life develops as fast as it does, depending on both opportunity and advantage, depending on circumstance. Circumstances change, to some extent depending on the activity of life. Now, if you knew all this stuff and could do good maths, would you expect to be able to draw a graph showing the rate of evolution? Would you expect a straight line? A simple exponential curve? Or something more complicated?

How far might you then think that emerging reality does not meet your informed expectations? What's weird, exactly?

We weren't late or early. We were precisely on time.

"Our brain power" meaning what, and when? As it emerged, it wasn't so greatly different. Physically it's now much the same. You may be confusing individual "brain power" with that of civilisation, and omitting to take into account the relationship between the two. A common mistake.

This year has been good for breeding sparrows and goldfinches. Sparrows now visit in flocks of up to 30, whereas for many years they were about 12. Observing their behaviour in social circumstances that are new to them, it's interesting to watch them adapt, mostly it seems through squabbling. One consequence is that they have learned to eat niger seeds from a feeder that previously only the goldfinches were interested in and adept enough to eat from. Worse, hungry blue tits have also taken to niger seed, probably because there are few insects, and launch themselves like missiles at goldfinches, that come in singles or pairs, but not at sparrows. Consequently this year's goldfinches are small and timid, whereas the sparrows are all fat and boisterous. Even my back yard is complicated enough to make long-term prediction impossible. There's nothing weird about that. Complexity is hard to grasp: we're only human.

Bluetits can flock but this year they aren't. If they did they could beat the sparrows because they're more agile and clever. I wonder why they don't? I think some will starve.

I guess,

The problem in the past may have been predators..Sparrow hawks do kill alot of small birds..However I have seen Magpies hunt and kill small birds Sparrows get battered on a regular basis..I hate seeing the small birds hunted..😡

Yes I know it's normal, however I still hate it..🙁

Looking at the theory of evolution..the more I look the more It dosen't make sense to me..What I'm saying is I do start to question it at times..Why is there no other life on earth that can do what we can?
Don't get me wrong I like to try and be science based, a few people will not allow there children to be taught evolution and I used to think it very very strange..
However I have a hard time arguing that man was not just lucky he was selected...It does look a bit like that and how do you say otherwise..

I have always been with the evolution camp and still are. however it is very difficult to argue against other ideas.
I should point out that I'm the one saying man was just lucky and the others are saying he was selected..against all others..
Yes OK natural selection...The others are saying why just man and no other..they don't believe it..and I can see why they don't..

According to ancient traditions evolution had 2 driving forces: "From above", conscious decisions of the Universe, and from "Below", reaction to hard circumstances. This traditions were forbidden by Church, so Theory of Evolution was taboo, until Darwin removed the 1'st part from it stating that the 2'nd one is sufficient. The church got mad, because they could not press charges on such theory that has nothing to do with conscious Universe (they had monopoly on his part and protected it by all means).

Natural selection works, but it is incomplete theory, and can't explain everything.

Back in the 60s I read about an experiment wherein conditions consistent with what we thought the earth was like a million or so years ago were simulated in a sealed environment.. It was carried out in a sterile glass vessel containing methane, nitrogen, oxygen, CO2, water and other basic components. An electric arc was introduced, along with other stimulus (heat, light, etc).

Over a period of months amino acids formed.

It was heralded as the proof of evolution as the amino acids formed out of basic compounds.
This was apparently a follow up to the Miller Urey experiment in 1952.

Problem is that it never got past amino acids. No actual proteins were ever produced.

Did the experiment just not proceed long enough? Are other conditions necessary that were lacking? Or is God just playing with us?

Why not? I think it was Einstein who said, "The World is God's laugh"?

For me, God is conscious, intelligent Universe. It is alive.

I would,

Be much more comfortable if there was an reptile, animal or insect that could do what we can..I find it very difficult to contemplate..What if natural selection works, however man was selected in some way..this could be by anything for any reason...however I understand why people don't believe man and only man is a result of natural selection..

OK yes look at all the missing links in the chain skulls etc..one problem they are all human..nothing else..😕
OK I'll stay science based but it is starting to unsettle me..
