Have a look at the THD vs. output level for this chip when considering an upgrade.

hypex softstart link tab

Hello,

I'm planning to use one hypex softstart with two TR501 transformers on 230V.
Is it ok to connect directly the white and blue leads on the input side, instead of using the link tab?

Hiss on UCD400hg

Just finished up my UCD400hg today. Slight hiss on my speakers - audible only when i put my ears about 3 inches from the woofer. Any idea what's the problem?

Yes he is, but even if only 10% of what he finds will work for me, I will be still happy. And I would be very unhappy if he stop writing about his findings. However, the response he finds here is very unfriendly, with Class D forum leading the way.

Chip amp people seem to be much more tolerant. Maybe because they are never taken seriously 😉

Checking the screws running through toroids is the first thing to try on my list.

I've done the experiments many times. Potted vs unpotted, plastic bolts vs steel, brass, and copper bolts.

The best sounding....is a wood chassis, no potting, and zip tied, on damping material. This, regarding toroidals, that is.
