UcD400, in summary.

Brian,

Yes, I suspect that may be the case. Its going to be a pain in the *** to ohm it out, and I hoped someone might have done it already. Seems kind of silly since the UCD is patented already, and this would be a board that requires the use of a purchased module.

The epoxy really does mess up moding in this very critical area so my thought is it just needs a new daughter board.

Potting is a great way to preserve intellectual property and they do this because while the UcD topology is patented their specific modulator circuit is not.

One downside to potting is the stray capacitance that it adds between all of the connections and that this capacitance can vary over temperature. This may not be a big deal with audio circuitry but it can be for other things. I know this from having to deal with potting and capacitive sensing circuitry at work...

I'd be interested in knowing exactly what kind of potting it is.

... Now the standby pin works the way I thought ( on the OEM's atleast... )
IMHO the right way ...

Also...
- So this is what you've been doing when you're not working on the SMPS ... 😀

I am glad you like our OEM series... However these are only for manufactures.

The SMSP is still in progress, next week the second protoype will be up and running. After this version we will decide when we put this in production.

We are busy with a lot of things... 😉

Hi,

I've a few upgrade kits for the UcD180/400 amps left. With one kit you can easily upgrade a ST version to an AD version. Included in the kit are an AD8620 opamp and 2 current diodes. The price for one kit would be 15 Euro (half of the Hypex price).

For further improvement you can have Visay Series 136 ultra low ESR caps (not included in the standard AD version). The price for two 470uF, 50V caps (UcD180) is 3.50 Euro and for two 470uF,63V caps (UcD400) 4.50 Euro.

Shipping costs to Europe are 2 Euro (US 4 Euro).

Regards,
Frank

lm4562 mode

hello'
i have ucd400 ver 1.6.
regarding the lm4562 mod. i need information about the resistors value:
as i found for ucd400 according hypex doc:
rf=r14&r4=2.2k rg= r3=1.2k.
can somone tell about the value of r21,r22,r5,r6?
thanks
