I've heard so many different sounding speakers.
Car subwoofers with an very low bass notes
Professional pa/disco subwoofers with a more chest beating sound
and Hifi subwoofers with a clean natural bass.
I always wondered how the hell,do you get that resonating very low deep bass which is loud in volume,unlike most very deep bass.Do car poweramps have a special circuity to boost the very low bass,because i've tried that with graphic equalisers and just got a 'muddy' one note bass,which is boomy and lacks weight.
My application is disco/pa is it possible to combine a speaker which produces very deep bass,with a speaker which gives are more bass beat chest thump.
Say the Eminence Kilomax 18 rated 1250w rms,97 db 1w/1m,25hz-600hz. With the Eminence kappa pro 15,rated 500w rms,103 db 1w/1m,40hz-4khz.
Taking about enclousures i think bandpass give the lowest deep bass,and scoop bass bins give the best upper bass which you can feel in your chest.
Forget vented or ported,because they are not that efficient.
I think sealed are only good for midrange,w bin and j bin are simular in the deepish bass,but not as low as the bandpass.
Do you think having these drivers above: in a 18 inch dual bandpass,and single 15 scoop,with the active crossovers,2x 15 band eqs and poweramps would give me the bass i request
Next i can think about the midrange and treble.....

different recordings gives different bass
Then you have the stages between the player
and the loudspeaker.
amplifiers power supplies etc.
And last comes the sound making device, the speaker
If some of these stages doesn't let the bass through fully,
the bass will be lowered or different.
For big woofer driving is the amplifiers power handling capability
aswell as the Power delivering capacity of the Trafo+PSU
important.
Lastly the loudspeaker driver itself aswell as the design of the enclosure will be important.
Also the room in which you listen will effect the caracteristic of the bass.
