So I went ahead and purchased an active crossover.
Now I am buying wires for the crossover outputs to lead them to the proper amplifiers.
I am confronted with a problem. I only have RCA outputs on my crossover.
I need to take both the Mid and High ranges and combine them for one of my amps.
I have come down to this. Will this work?
x2 male Rca to male 3.5 mm
Headphone splitter (2 female 3.5 to 1 male 3.5 )
Female to female adapter
Male to R/L 1/4
Would this result in designated right left 1/4 plugs into my amplifier w/ only high and mids?
Can you backwards wire adapters like that and still attain stereo and proper levels? (Mainly the "headphone" splitter... )

Hi ltjenkem, I'm confused. An active crossovers purpose is to split the signals into separate mid and high for which you need separate amplifier channels to amplify. so for stereo with a low/high active crossover you need four amplifier channels.
I don't understand why you would be combining the mid and high again when putting into the amp, unless I'm completely mis-interpreting your post 🙂

ISTM one 'solution' to this conundrum is that he bought a 3 way crossover but either his speakers are only 2-way or he only has two stereo amps (or both).
To the OP - best combine using some series resistors - 1k should be in the right ballpark. Run the two cables as close to the amp as possible before sending their 'hot' signals through 1k for each, then join the far side of the resistors together and connect that node to the input of your power amp. However, don't combine mid and high, rather combine low and mid. Putting mid signals into a tweeter's not a great idea for its lifespan.

Sorry, double post. That "Female to 3.5 female" is in an awkward location. It is depicting a very small piece between the male 3.5 of the "headphone splitter" and the 3.5 of the stereo 1/4 feeding to the amplifier.

I take it from your pic that your mid/top speakers have a passive crossover inside? If so then its fine to combine the mid and tweeter outputs of your active XO. Do this by fitting a 1k resistor in each of the signal lines (that's in series with those lines). So you'll need 4 resistors in total, two for each channel (L,R). The signal line is the central core wire of your interconnects. Perhaps you could build up a 'summer' which does this function rather than modify your cables. You'd need two 'summer's - each has input via 1k resistors and the output is from the junction of those two 1k resistors.
