The port is dead center on the top of the box, no port in the front.
It's somewhere between 1 and 2 inches I think. Probably about 1 inch. Don't know how much that changes things.
Lenth looks to be about pretty deep, possibly more then 3 inches, my fingers didn't touch an edge.

Maybe it’s a pin guide for top mounted mid and high frequency speakers and the speaker really is a closed box?
