Would everyone please take note of that quote; AC heaters and NO hum, all because of proper wiring (which is cheap for DIY)...
With indirect heated cathodes, you are more likely to pick up hash from the high current diodes making DC than correctly wired AC.

Nearly. Rectification is a very mucky process and the resulting noise leaks really easily. The design problem is to make the rectification noise (at all significant frequencies) reaching the output of the supply lower than the wideband noise on the incoming supply and not to contaminate other supplies.
