In my day job, I do I.T. stuff.
Everything we do on systems, we do it remotely. I literally haven't touched a server in years.
I've found this to be useful for my speaker projects too. Basically I have a microphone set up outside or in my car (1), and a PC in my garage that runs Room EQ Wizard. I remotely connect to the PC from my house.
This is especially useful if you're doing small changes for an hour or two. For instance, if I'm trying various combinations of xover points, slopes, EQ settings, etc.
I just connect remotely and do everything from the comfort of my home.
Take to the extreme, someone could probably turn this into a consulting business. For instance, if Bob in Denmark is good at making speaker boxes, but not so great at making crossover, you could:
1) Have Bob buy a laptop
2) Have Bob install RDP
3) Have Bob plug a mic into that laptop
4) Then you connect to Bob's laptop from the other side of the world
Here's how to connect to a PC running RDP on Windows:

(1) I put the mic in my car, when I'm doing a car stereo project. Besides being convenient, it also may provide better results, as you're changing the response of your speakers just by sitting in the car.

headless
I run my media player headless. It is a mini old dell that I have severely underclock via power management to reduce cooling fan noise. I have it on auto on on power. All is connected to a WIFI relay via a power bar. so when I say "ok google turn amp on" the dac, pc, main amp and sub amp turns on. Then I remote into the headless windows box (that does room eq also) to access it. My network is behind a firewall and I have a vpn, so If I wanted to control it remotely, all I needed to do is to start the amp via the WIFI relay and then vpn into the network and remote (rdp) into the music server.
It is really cool to be able to turn the whole thing off with a simple voice command, timer or cell phone click. Furthermore, here in Florida, we have the scourge of power surges that kill equipment widely (I am in IT and every year someone looses equipment due to surges]; the WIFI relay allow a galvanic disconnection from the grid, so the risk of a surge get severely minimized. I am really lazy on my IT home stuff, so I use google/ nest WIFI for the router and a synology nas (external hard drive) for the music and for the vpn server. It is a very simple system to setup with amazing free tools for remote management and access.

I used to do this for my music server, even from my Mac and it was super handy. But doesn't RDP require a Pro version of Windows to work?
I use Teamviewer to fix things on my mother's computer.

Its kind of crazy that microsoft blocks the most useful part of windows and leave it for pro, enterprise and some volume licensing
officially pro only. the os is basically the same with components added and removed (this is even true for the server versions). there is a mod that add the functionality back to windows, its called rdwrap.

if you do not want to pay for a full win10 pro license, win 7 pro can be used. just enter the serial number on install. you can get it from a dead or old unit. ms still give a free upgrade. you can get windows 10 pro using the official windows 10 download tool.
Download Windows 10
You can even use it with no license. Start from the thumb drive, tell the install you do not have the key available at this time. After one week, you will get a notice below stating that your os is not activated. It will keep working, and even get updates and upgrades. The only thing missing is user themes.
Teamviewer is great. As an alternative, you can try chrome remote desktop by google. sometimes TeamViewer refuse to work if you keep connecting to an user.
