sorry that my first post is going to be so annoying because I'm sure that people around here had enough of them new guys asking what is the BEST kit, oh ya - and under $50 😀
I'm not really going to ask that (thank me later)
because I have a crappy audio system and I really like building everything on my own and I know a thing or two about audio electronics (I build guitar effects and even built a 60w tube guitar amp) I decided I should build an entire system on my own. I'm talking about the pre / power amps and speakers!
at first I wanted to get some schematics from websites and do everything on my own since I know to make layouts and fabricate PCBs and can get transformers made and all that.... but I got to the point where I understood that doing everything on my own would take way too much time which I don't have, although it will give me total control over part selection and costs which is always good. I ended up looking for kits that seem to be well designed and come with all the chassis work done because fabricating nice boxes for amps can take way too long.
I think I'll go with a solid state power amp, maybe something like this http://www.ampslab.com/bi70mk2.htm
I'm still looking around for a speaker design I like but I won't go into that because this is a tube audio forum, as you can see from the power amp I'll use they are not going to be too weak.
looks like I'll go with a tube preamp, something with a nice and wide freq. range, I don't like to use words such as "hi-fi" or "audiophile".... I guess you get the idea.
what I'm looking for
1. comes with chassis*
2. not expensive as GOLD
3. got no "mojo" components (like $200 oil caps and stuff)
4. "best" audio quality
* if there is a god given kit that does not come with a chassis but would fit into a rack, it will do fine!
difficulty of assembly is not really an issue for me since I'm working with PCBs and electronics devices all the time and even built guitar a few effects in point to point and so goes for the guitar amp I built.
I would like to thank in advanced everyone who help!

Start by figuring out what you need. How many sources? What are the output levels of the sources? Phono stage? Power amp sensitivity and input impedance? Approximate cable length (and hence capacitance) between pre and power?
You may find that you don't even need a preamp, depending on the answers.
