Hi Everyone,
As being quite new to the whole diy-scene and this forum in particular, i do hope my maybe stupid questions wuill not play to my disadvantage.
I'm a student in Belgium, owning a NAD CD-player, namely the C521BEE. By reading a lot on the internet, my interest has grown in putting a tube output stage in my player.
My question to you guys is to what my options are and how to implement them. I'v heard about using a Mu-stage or a Differential stage or atransfo or something alike. All ideas Welcome, all help happily accepted, all needed info wille be given with a smile...
greetz,

Hi,
Hmmm...Seems to me half the Benelux owns a NAD CDP they all of a sudden want to add a tubestage to....
Sorry for the sarcasm, I guess it's just a coincidence....
In a nutshell:
If you want to add a tubestage on that player and you already have exhausted most of the other upgrades, especially a new precision clock, go for a simple anode follower using a low to medium tube and adorn it with a very low ripple power supply.
Put your modded CDP close to your preamp and enjoy.
Money no object and low Zout is a must?
Same anode follower put loaded with a dedicated high quality SE OPT.
Forget mu-followers for this application, they won't sound half as good, you'll need two separate heater supplies with dedicated bias in most cases and the added complexity doesn't do the music any good: soulless is the word that comes to mind.
A good idea of what can be done can be found in the "projects" submenu of this site, check the Cdenhancer 3 as it applies to Sigma Delta DACchips as use in the NAD player.
ULTRANALOG...O IRONY.
Please feel free to check other, related threads on the forum here.
Cheers, 😉

Hey frank,
I opened a similar topic on a Dutch forum, is it that what you mean by half the benelux? Or did you als o get a mail from the same person as me, with the same interest, another belgian student? As far as i know, it's just the two of us (and i do hope there live more than 4 people in the benelux).
Do i have a sigmadeltadac btw?? it's a 20bit dac, that i know. What tubes would you suggest as the better-sounding ones?
Thirdly, i already searched the forum, but i could not find a lot of helpful information, hence the opening of a new topic.

Hi,
Well, there's you, another student from Turnhout studying in Ghent, a guy who knows him, a few Dutch guys too....and they all wanted this poor fellow to answer all their questions in just one weekend ....
When I finished with one, the other turned up and so on.
Sure felt like an invasion to me...😉
You do.
You have to look at it this way: what would complement the sound of my CDP best?
IMO the 5687 is a good candidate, there are others but let's stick to this one for now.
Did you check the link I provided in a previous post?
If not, please do.
Cheers,😉
