Check my updated sig. What say ye, can we get some tests that border on demanding the GOT's vengance? 😀
I'll work on either the 6L6 as described (not that I have enough to burn) or my favorite, the 12AU7. Who else wants to earn some fame as producing the most power from a single tube?

Getting 500W out of a 6L6 at 4am..... LOL 😀
It's good to see I'm not the only person with a problem round here

Humm....
I'll have to see what I have around for tubes, and a PSU...Got a couple kinda-weak metal 6L6's,and a couple old (near dead, wish they were good!) Mullard EL34's that can go for some experimenting...Got a few 807's,6080's..hmm..I'll have to see what else I can dig up.. 🙂
As for a PSU.... hmm,I have a neon sign tranny
But I think that might be a bit much..
I dunno if I have anything suitable for larger tubes, maybe I'll have to see how far I can push some subminiatures..Think I got a couple PSU's suitable for that. 😀
Got plenty of 12a_7's,6AU6's,and the usual stash of similar small tubes..
Any guesses as to how far a single 12AX7 will go? 10W..25W?

Havn't seen him around in a while,I wonder if he's a member here?

This is the kind of stuff that makes this hobby worth messing with😀
Maybe I should dig up my 813´s and some old MWO transformers...

Cute idea, Tim, but I'm out. I know I can get 300W out of a 6LF6, but only for a second or two, the the plate will blind you. So how I'm supposed to bring the input level knob up, then (quickly) down, hit the number on the upswing, and snap a photo that actually has the 'scope screen in it before the tube melts down.... think I'll just applaud from the audience and watch for crashes.
Pretty soon the factory teams will come in and drive the "bring what ya got" little guy out. It's inevitable.

Nitro powered tubes
Try submerging the tube in liquid nitrogen, might get a few seconds longer before it sets off a 9.0 tsunami.

Just saw this over on the SS forum, Alex has figured out how to make a SS triode. Interesting. That ought to get the GOT really steamed:

You underestimate the power of RF PULSE 😀
Think......
- Class C
- 1% duty cycles
- DC drive with SS
- Resonant load

Finally, tubeheads have found something to compete with the pointlessness of dB drag racing.
And at last, a good use for 12AU7's 🙂
