Hi Everyone, I have read a thread on microphonics in tubes which got me thinking a bit. I have just bought a set of six matched 6550/KT88 tubes for my single ended power amp project . I was just wondering on how prone are these tubes to microphinics? The tubes are: Valve Art 6550's x6 These are the best tubes that I had the money for at the time. I really wanted the svetlana's, but hey!- too pricey.
Thanks again

Hi,
Besides the fact that I don't see any point in getting matched output tubes for a single ended amp, I don't consider output tubes as particularly susceptible to microphony....
Cheers, 😉

Agreed, I have only ever heard of microphonic pre-amp tubes (especially 12AX7s!)
Try tapping them with a pencil when you install them in your amp, I would doubt you would hear much...

re: tube choice
Thanks to those who answered my question.
The microphonics in tubes is what I suspected. Mainly in pre amp tubes. But I thought that I'd just check just in case. As the Valve art tubes that I bought for the single ended project, are not top of the line tubes and I thought that they may induce some micro's.
Anyway thatnks again.
